Here’s my agent’s proposal that sold RELUCTANT REAPER
Patrick at QueryTracker graciously included me in his “Success Story” series. Thank you, Patrick.
At the end of the fun interview, I included both my original query letter, and also, with her permission, the proposal my agent wrote that sold the 3-book series to Simon & Schuster.
(Warning: Contains spoilers for the first two books. And also, bear in mind the book was substantially rewritten between the query and the proposal.)
I think you’ll find this of interest. I know I’d never seen a proposal before.

COVER REVEAL, THE SEQUEL: SCYTHE DOES MATTER
More stripper music… ta dum dum da! Here’s the cover to book 2 of The Reluctant Reaper series… SCYTHE DOES MATTER!
Coming to an online retailer near you July 17, 2013!
Now time is running out thanks to a temporal crisis she may have accidentally created. Can she graduate, rescue her aunt, take down Conrad, and save Hell and every other dimension—before the clock stops ticking?
As the saying goes in Hell, “Be careful what you wish for; it just might get you!”
Mexico in pictures!
When I had a day job, I looked forward to vacations and days off (even surgery!) as time to write. So for the first time in ages, I’m on vacation and I’m not writing. In fact, I’ve hardly been writing emails and I have only written one blog post.
This morning I off-loaded our pictures from the camera and so now I will share with you a couple a day.
1) Here’s a shot of Jean from Minnesota (left) and me outside St. Paul’s Episcopalian Church.
2) And this is the tennis court where Mr. Grumpy played three times a week.
More tomorrow!
Not-my-real cover. Let me show it to you: Now with 100% more scythe.
I’m (im)patiently awaiting cover art for my Reaper series.
Yesterday, Alex Beecroft shared a faux cover she’d made for fun.
As soon as I saw it, I had to make my own. (And you can, too.)
Surprisingly, it’s not the time-waster you’d think. Took me only a few minutes to make the cover, below.
So not-my-real cover. Let me show it to you: Now with 100% more scythe.
