frankie_say_relax_infantFor those just tuning in, every Monday till I’m done, I’m posting my top 10 list of THE STRANGEST SONGS EVER.

DISCLAIMER: Don’t get me wrong, some of these are songs I adore. They’re just either about strange things people don’t usually sing about, or they just don’t make any sense.

The list so far…

#10 was Elton John’s Madman Across the Water, because it makes no sense.
#9 George Harrison’s, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, because it’s about housework.
#8, today’s Strangest song is… Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves by Cher. Yes, let’s all sell our women-folk into prostitution.
#7, the awesome dance tune, proving ultimately parody-able, PSY’s Gangnam Style.

# 6 is on of my fave tunes of all times. It’s Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

First it got banned due to “sexual content” and then it became a hit and everybody wore “Frankie says Relax” T-shirts. It’s an awesome dance tune. And apparently you can buy onsies featuring Frankie’s famous quote.

I think I’ll skip the lyrics for this one. You already know them. But you can listen to this awesome dance tune, here.

  1. I forget who sings it, but have you ever heard of “They’re coming to take me away”? It’s about going mad … For some reason, I can’t forget the tune! 🙂

    • From Wikipedia: “They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” is a 1966 novelty record by Jerry Samuels, recorded under the name Napoleon XIV.”

That’s a good one, and I did consider it in my judging contingent of one, but I chose to exclude songs that were deliberately trying to be weird and only went for songs that took them selves: Srsly!
