Surprise dinner with Donald Maass!

One of the perks (percs?) of being a volunteer with your local writer’s organization is that when your visiting guest speaker accepts a last minute invite to have dinner with a few chapter members, you get invited. So a few of us had a lovely evening Friday night with Mega-Agent Donald Maass. He’s warm and funny and charming and willing to share a lot of useful industry info. Cute, too!

He asked at the table what he should talk about during the next day’s workshop. Character! I said, no longer able to deny that this is a writing weakness of mine. Nobody will care about my clevah plot twists and witty dialogue if they don’t care about my characters. ::sob!::

Then on Saturday, Don gave a fabulous workshop to 100 attendees on… character!

I consider myself handsomely compensated for all of the work I do for my RWA chapter. Lucky, lucky me!

If you ever get a chance to attend a Donald Maass workshop, it’s well worth it.

Thank you, Don!
